COVID-19 PANDEMIC: UPDATE- ASEAN status as of Friday 7am, September 25

The coronavirus COVID-19 is affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and 2 international conveyances.

Coronavirus Cases globally : 32,380,781; Deaths: 986,835 ; Recovered: 23,892,965

Here we provide updated information on cases in Asean, comprising new cases, total cases, new deaths and total deaths. Two Asean countries have cases exceeding 200,000 and deaths almost reaching 5,000 and 10,000.

Cambodia is on another positive spell with a run of six days without any new infections and just one active case. It is working very hard to keep the virus at bay, emphasizing and reemphasising on self-hygiene and social distancing but the fear factor and rumors are taking its toll. Novice monks with influenza A were initially stated to be COVID-19 positive on social media even before tests were conducted and this is never a good sign, as it happened close to the just concluded Pchum Ben Holidays.

Brunei had 0 new cases, has a total of 145 with three deaths.

Cambodia

There has been 1 new positive case of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Cambodia after almost two weeks of no new cases. The tally thus remains at 27%. No deaths. Total recovered at 274.

Indonesia

The country reported +4,634 new infections, taking the totals to 262,022 infections with +128 new deaths, bringing total to 10,105 deaths.

Laos

No new cases recorded, total at 22. No deaths.

Malaysia

The country reported +71 new cases, taking the total to 10,576 with 0 new death, total deaths at 133.

Myanmar

Myanmar reported +1,052 new cases, taking total to 8,344 and +20 new deaths, total is at 150.

Philippines

The Philippines recorded +2,180 new cases, bringing the totals to 296,755 with +36 new deaths, bringing total to 5,127 deaths.

Singapore

Reported +15 new cases, taking the total to 57,654 and 27 deaths.

Thailand

Reported +2 new cases, total at 3,516, 0 death, total deaths stands at 59.

Vietnam

Vietnam’s Ministry of Health had 0 new cases and a total of 1,069 cases, no new death, total remains at 35.
