3 Filipino fighters added to ONE fight card in Thailand
Three Filipino fighters will see action in ONE: Warrior Kingdom set on March 11 at Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.
Joshua Pacio of Baguio City hopes to get another crack at a world title when he takes on former strawweight titleholder Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke of Thailand.
It will be Pacio’s youth against the experience of the 38-year-old Amnuaysirichoke, who is a three-time Muay Thai champion. Both fighters are coming off a loss to current strawweight king Yoshitaka Naito of Japan.
The 21-year-old Pacio, who is fighting out of the famed Team Lakay, holds an 8-1 record.
Iloilo City native Rabin Catalan, a wushu practitioner, is also up against a Thai fighter in Pongsiri Mitsatit in the bantamweight division.
Rounding out another Philippines-Thailand tiff, Filipino lightweight Richard Corminal, who is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, will be making his ONE Championship debut against Pongsiri Mitsatit.
The main event features fast-rising star Angela Lee, who will defend her women’s atomweight belt for the first time when she clashes with Jenny Huang of Chinese Taipei.
The 20-year-old Lee boasts a flawless 6-0 mark with five of her wins via submission. She won the title in May last year after scoring a unanimous decision victory over Mei Yamaguchi in ONE: Ascent to Power in Singapore.
Also seeing action in the undercard are Thailand’s Kritsada Kongsrichai, who faces Indonesia’s Adrian Matheis while Ma Jia Wen battles Yohan Mulia Legowo in the featherweight division.
Female fighters Rika Ishige and Audreylaura Boniface tangle in the atomweight class.
