KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian football fans who will travel to Russia to watch the final round of 2018 FIFA World Cup need not apply for visa to enter the country to watch the prestigious football tournament.
Russian Ambassador to Malaysia, Valery Yermolov said, they only needed to buy an online ticket which enabled them to get the FAN-ID which served as a visa.
He said the same rules also applied to the foreigners and also expatriates who lived and worked in Malaysia who planned to travel to the country to watch the game
The 2018 FIFA World Cup will be held from June 14 to July 15 at 12 stadiums in 11 cities in western part of Russia.
“Spectators are required to possess the so-called FAN-ID, a document that identifies a person as a football fan and can be obtained online free of charge,” he told a press conference, here, today.
In the same note, Yermolov was confident that the upcoming World Cup would have an immense impact on the development of football, not only in Russia but also around the world.
“We know that Malaysians are passionate football fans and hope that here in Malaysia, you will enjoy watching the tournament in Russia, as much as we will enjoy hosting it,” Yermolov added. — BERNAMA
