IMAGES of sea creatures raining down on cars and buildings in Qingdao in the Chinese province of Shangdong have gone viral.

Among the incredible images shared on Chinese social media was that of an octopus falling on a car’s windshield after being swept up and away by heavy winds. Then there were photos of starfish and shrimps landing on windshields of cars.

The Qingdao Meteorological Administration was reported as saying the violent weather was recorded late on Tuesday afternoon with Hurricane-force winds blowing at a shocking 34.8 miles per second, registering storm force 12 on the Beaufort scale.

However, the report was found to be false and the photos that went viral were photoshopped.
