Many blame police for rise in deaths of people mistaken for others in Cebu and other cities

Mr Duane Bonga was asleep when the police came at 3am. They barged into the house, told the 42-year-old and his younger brother Jate to stay on the floor, and handcuffed them. They were looking for someone, and asked the pair for their names.

Duane and Jate shouted out their full names. Their father tried to intervene, but was told to drop to the floor. He was also handcuffed, his head turned to the wall, away from his sons. Jate said his name out loud again, then shots rang out.
