COVID-19 PANDEMIC: Myanmar reports three new cases and one recovery

The total number of COVID-19 cases in Myanmar is nearing 300 with the Ministry of Health and Sports reporting three new cases at 8am on June 28, bringing the total number of cases to 296.
The three new patients are all returnees undergoing facility quarantine. Meanwhile, one patient is on the road to recovery.
The latest infected patient is a 15-year-old male, Case-294 in the ministry’s list, from Thayetchaung township in Tanintharyi Region. The teenager was undergoing facility quarantine at a centre in Hpa-an township when he tested positive. He is a returnee from Thailand. Case-294 has been admitted to Hpa-an General Hospital for medical treatment.
The two remaining infected patients, Case-295 and Case-296 are both man in their early 20s from Hlaing township in Yangon Region. They were also undergoing facility quarantine at a transit centre in Hlaing township when they tested positive. They are returnees from India and have been admitted to Military Liver Specialist Hospital in Mingaladon for medical treatment.
From May 16 to June 28 at 8am, a total of 110 returnees have tested positive for COVID-19, the health ministry said. These comprise 47 returnees from India, 23 from Thailand, 17 from Malaysia, nine from Bangladesh, eight from the United Arab Emirates, three from Qatar, two from Italy, and one from China.
Meanwhile, one more patient is on the road to recovery. She is a 47-year-old woman, Case-217, from Mingalar Taung Nyunt township, in Yangon. The woman was confirmed infected on May 30 and her test results have returned negative twice. She had no contact with any COVID-19 confirmed patient. She was a returnee from India.
The National Health Laboratory tested 1128 persons, and the Department of Medical Research in Yangon Region tested 292 persons, Public Health Laboratory in Mandalay tested 278 person, Public Health Laboratory in Mawlamyine tested 252 persons and 1000-bed No(1) Military Hospital in Yangon tested 15 persons suspected of being infected with the virus in the latest rounds of testing.
From January 31 to June 28 at 8am, the government tested 71,692 people for the disease.
Yangon has the highest number of COVID-19 patients among regions and states of the country with 206 COVID-19 cases and Kayin State ranks second with 26.
So far, Kayah State is the only region in Myanmar without any reported case.
