The death toll from the respiratory disease stood at 4,143 as of Sunday, although the actual figure could be a lot more than government’s tally as deaths from probable coronavirus cases were not included.

East Java reported 52 Covid-19 deaths — the province’s highest death toll in a day so far — to take its total fatalities to 1,401, nearly double than the total death toll in Jakarta.

New hotspot Central Java also experienced its deadliest day during the outbreak with 23 deaths in the last 24 hours, while Jakarta and South Sulawesi reported nine deaths each.
