JAKARTA: Indonesia records 3,622 new Covid-19 cases
JAKARTA: Indonesia recorded 3,622 new Covid-19 cases over the past 24 hours up to noon Thursday, the highest number of cases since the first case was recorded on March 2 in the republic.
According to data published Thursday on the official website of the Indonesian authorities on Covid-19, www.covid19.go.id, the number of positive cases so far has risen to 184,268 while the number of deaths totalled 7,750.
A total of 134 deaths were also reported over the past 24 hours up to noon Thursday.
The province of Jakarta recorded the highest number of positive cases, 43,400, including the latest addition of 1,359 cases.
The province of East Java recorded the highest number of 2,459 cases followed by Jakarta (1,246); Central Java (1,061); South Sulawesi (367) and the rest in the other provinces.-Bernama
PETALING JAYA, Malaysia: 14 new cases of Covid-19 detected today
PETALING JAYA: The Ministry of Health reported 14 new positive cases of Covid-19 in the country today, bringing the total number of active cases to 163.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah (pix) said of 14 cases, 10 were local transmissions and four were imported cases.
The 10 local cases were made up of six Malaysians and four foreigners while the imported cases involved two Malaysians and two foreigners.
“There were four cases in Kedah, with three cases from the Tawar cluster and one from the Telaga cluster as well as two in Sabah involving the Benteng LD cluster. The four local transmission cases involving foreigners are from the Benteng LD cluster in Sabah.
“For the four imported cases, three were from Singapore and one from the Philippines,” he said today.
Four patients recovered today, bringing the total number of recoveries to 9,083 cases or 96.9% of the overall cases.
No deaths were reported today, keeping the toll at 128.
As of today, only four Covid-19 patients were still being treated at the intensive care unit with three of them requiring ventilator support.

SINGAPORE: 48 new Covid-19 cases in Singapore, tally at 56,908
SINGAPORE: Singapore preliminarily confirmed 48 new cases of Covid-19 today, bringing the total number of infections in the republic to 56,908.
“Based on our investigations so far, there are two cases in the community, of whom one is a Singapore permanent resident and one is a work pass holder,” the republic’s Ministry of Health (MOH) said in its brief data released here.
The ministry said there were five imported cases and all had been placed on Stay-Home Notice upon arrival in Singapore.
In the full data released late yesterday, the republic had classified 913 of the reported cases as imported, 2,220 as community cases and 53,727 involving dorm residents.
The ministry said 41 cases have been removed from the count of total confirmed cases as they were verified to be negative for Covid-19 following further investigation.
A total of 55,891 patients have fully recovered from the infection and been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.
Meanwhile, 75 confirmed cases remain in hospital, but none in the intensive care unit.
A total of 867 patients who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still tested positive for Covid-19, have been isolated and are being cared for at community facilities.
To date, 27 people have died from complications due to Covid-19 in the republic.
Three new clusters were identified yesterday at Changi Lodge II of Tanah Merah Coast Road; North Coast Lodge of North Coast Avenue; and Toh Guan Dormitory of Toh Guan Road East.-Bernama
