Anies Allows Dine-in as Jakarta Eases Covid-19 Restrictions

Jakarta. Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has decided to ease the month-long large scale social restrictions, or PSBB after the number of the new Covid-19 cases in the capital stabilized.
Under the eased rules, restaurants and cafes can serve dine-in customers but limit their capacity to 50 percent and impose strict health protocols. Wet markets, shopping malls, places of worship, offices, barbershops, museums, retail stores, indoors, and outdoor sports centers, except the swimming pools, can also open at half of their capacities.
The provincial government allowed manufacturing plants to operate with working shifts and detailed documentation about every worker’s schedule.
Prolonged indoor gatherings like meetings, like workshops, weddings must follow a 25 percent capacity limit. The 25 percent limit also applies to gyms and recreational parks,
Offices, restaurants, and museums must also keep a detailed record of their visitors, including names, addresses, and verified phone numbers.
Anies said night clubs, spas, massage parlors, karaoke, and others were still not allowed to operate because they had a high risk of Covid-19 transmission.
The provincial government also suspends the so-called odd-even policy, removing a traffic limit that bans cars with odd- or even-numbered license plate to operate only in odd or even dates, respectively.
“What happened during the past month was an emergency brake because there had been an unexpected increase in the number of Covid-19 cases. Once stable, we begin to reduce the brakes slowly, gradually,” Anies said on Sunday.
“We need to emphasize that discipline must remain high so that the chain of transmission remains under control, and we do not have to carry out an emergency brake again,” Anies said.
Anies said the government eased the restrictions for the next two weeks until Oct 25.
