BRUNEI
Brunei had +0 new cases, has a total of 230 with 3 deaths.
Over 2,000 roll sleeves up for vaccine opt-in programme

Since the May 6 commencement of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine opt-in programme, 2,013 individuals have been inoculated nationwide.
A total of 678 individuals were administered the vaccine at the Indoor Stadium in Brunei -Muara District yesterday, while Belait District recorded 110, Tutong District 66, and Temburong District 44.
Slots for the AstraZeneca vaccine are currently offered to individuals aged 18 and above on a voluntary basis.
These additional slots are limited and available only from May 6-29.
Individuals who reserve a slot via the BruHealth app will be assured of the reservation and given priority.

Vientiane woman dies after being vaccinated
A 63-year-old woman has died after being given the AstraZeneca vaccine last week, the National Taskforce for Covid-19 Prevention and Control announced on Tuesday.
The women, identified as Mrs Bounya from Na-khoun village in Vientiane’s Naxaithong district, was vaccinated at the Lao International Trade Exhibition and Convention Centre (Lao-ITECC) on May 7.
“She passed all the checks including a temperature test before she was vaccinated and did not feel unwell immediately afterwards,” Dr Bandith Xomphonphakdy, a vaccine expert, said.
Representing the taskforce, Dr Bandith said the day after being vaccinated the woman experienced pain in her legs and other parts of her body. She had previously been diagnosed with diabetes and hypertension.

Malaysian govt defends Covid-19 response amid criticism as third lockdown looms
KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian government on Tuesday (May 11) defended its response to the Covid-19 pandemic amid criticism of poor coordination and crisis communication as the country heads into a third lockdown from Wednesday.
The top officials in charge of the security and health aspects of the pandemic response held a rare joint press conference to address the criticisms.
Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob insisted that Kuala Lumpur was “serious” in tackling the pandemic, saying that confusion over changing Covid-19 protocols was exacerbated by the dynamic nature of fluctuating infections in the country.

S’pore on knife-edge, Covid-19 community cases can go either way over next few weeks: Lawrence Wong
SINGAPORE – Singapore is now on a knife-edge, and the country’s community case numbers can go either way over the next few weeks, said Education Minister Lawrence Wong on Tuesday (May 11).
“We have a chance of getting things under control by the end of the month,” he said in a ministerial statement to update Parliament on the Republic’s Covid-19 situation.
“But as we know from experience, it only takes one lapse or one irresponsible action for an infection to happen; and that infection may end up being a super-spreader event in the community.”
