Ratanakkiri Provincial Administration announced the discovery of the first two cases of Covid-19 infections in the province.

Cambodia

There has been 506 new positive case of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Cambodia.  The tally is at 19,743.  126 deaths. Total recovered at 7,820.

With this finding, Ratanakkiri, which was the sole province to be free of the Covid-19 menace has now joined all 25 provinces with the deadly virus’ infections.

The two men who were found to be positive were working with a transport company.

They were identified as Nim Eng, whose hometown is Takeo province and the second,  Kong Vin, a native of the province.

It is not known whether the two had traveled there or were working in the province.

5 new fatalities and 480 new cases for Cambodia as total cases go above 20,000

Cambodia has announced another 480 new Covid-19 positive cases today – as well as 5 new fatalities.

This brings the total cases for the country up to 20223 with 11915 current active cases.

6 deaths were also announced. This means that The Kingdoms’ total deaths due to COVID currently stands at 131 direct deaths.

As has been the trend since last week, a full case breakdown was not released by the Ministry.

All but 10 of these new cases were connected to the February 20th incident.

This brings the total number of cases that have occurred as a result of February’s incident to 19635.

The other 10 cases were imported. Details have not yet been announced regarding the source of these imported cases.

An encouraging sign was that 350 recoveries were announced – a high figure compared to recent days

This means that 8170 people have recovered from COVID in Cambodia.
