A shipment of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine totalling 50,400 doses arrived in Brunei Darussalam from Spain yesterday, with more on the way.

The arrival marks the first shipment of Moderna, out of the 200,000 doses procured by the Ministry of Health (MoH).

“The Brunei Darussalam Medicines Control Authority (BDMCA) has confirmed the safety and effectiveness of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, following a stringent scientific evaluation process by the National COVID-19 Vaccine Technical Committee,” said the MoH in a statement.

“The BDMCA has granted special authorisation to administer the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine in Brunei Darussalam during a public health emergency or pandemic situation.

“As of June 2021, nearly more than 200 million doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine have been administered worldwide.
