There is still time to get behind the initiative. All we ask is that you join the campaign and on the 28th you help amplify the message that #JournalismMatters. Can we count on your support? Let us know.

Participating newsrooms will receive (by the end of this week):

  • Social media graphics and messages for sharing with your audiences on World News Day
  • Print and digital ads. There are two campaign ads — one for use in the week before World News Day and another for use on Sept. 28. The ads come in a variety of formats and in English and Spanish.
  • Access to collection of climate-themed articles and op-eds from participating newsrooms, which you can republish on your own platforms (additional guidance and a running index of stories will follow).
  • One of the main features of this year’s campaign is a 75-minute video package, “World News Day: The Climate Crisis”, which will be streamed on YouTube on Sept. 28.  Participating newsrooms will receive an embed code so that you can broadcast the show on your platforms.

Co-hosted by actor Victor Garber and journalist Farah Nasser, “World News Day: The Climate Crisis” will showcase journalism from around the world, highlighting regional climate issues, activism and solutions. It will feature videos from The Guardian, The Straits Times, The New Yorker, BBC, Deutsche Welle, South China Morning Post, Al Jazeera English, CBC News, Global News, Reuters, Thomson Reuters Foundation, Univision and The Sacramento Bee. It will also include remarks from The Guardian’s Katharine Viner, Reuters’ Alessandra Galloni, The Washington Post’s Trish Wilson, The Globe and Mail’s David Walmsley, and The Straits Times’ Warren Fernandez.
