Thailand bans entry from 8 African countries over new ‘Omicron’ COVID mutation, as new strain appears in Europe
Starting from December, visitors from Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe will be prohibited from entering Thailand
The move follows a similar decisions by Singapore yesterday as well as Sri Lanka.

There were 6,335 new Covid-19 cases and 37 more fatalities registered during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry reported on Thursday morning.
There were 6,305 cases in the general population and 30 among prison inmates.
The number of new cases rose from 5,857 announced on Wednesday, when the country recorded 55 more deaths.
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has welcomed pledges by American businesses to continue investing in Thailand which is being seen as recognition of the country’s progress despite challenging times.
Gen Prayut on Thursday held a meeting with businessmen from the American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand (Amcham) via teleconference.
