AMERICAN pop icon Cher on Wednesday trended on Twitter Philippines after mentioning Vice President Leni Robredo in her tweet which calls for support to women who are fighting for various causes.

Known as “Goddess of Pop,” the 75-year-old “Believe” hitmaker initially admitted that she did not know Robredo who is currently running as President in the incoming May elections.

It all started when Cher wrote on her Twitter page February 15, “If you want it done right…let a woman do it.” Followers of the presidential candidate mentioned her in the comment section.

Twitter user @TheSuperKim replied, “Cher really said #LetLeniLead”

Curious about the overwhelming retweets and mentions of Leni, Cher asked, “Who is This?” and “Excuse Dont Know Leni”

A certain Rica May then explained “Leni Robredo is the current Vice President of the Philippines and soon to be our President!”

Cher replied, “Bravo. Let women do it. Right there and then, Cher made it to the top Twitter trends and while her tweet garnered more than 40,000 retweets and 73,000 likes as of posting time.

An acclaimed performer, Cher is also an advocate for causes such as women’s rights, LGBT equality and veterans right apart from being known for her philanthropic efforts.
