There’s no stopping the May 9 polls in any part of the country, according to a ranking elections official, despite warnings from Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III of possible postponement in areas with high number of COVID-19 cases.

“With all due respect to the DOH, when it comes to the issue of voting, it will be the Comelec that has the final say,” Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner George Garcia told “The Chiefs” on Friday, April 22, when asked to comment on Duque’s statement earlier that day.
