Any home is a product of hard work and perseverance. Would you believe that it took actor Coco Martin three years to realize his spacious sanctuary in Quezon City? Coco wanted to work on the house without falling into debt. ‘Yon ‘yong pinakamasakit na mangyayari sa buhay ko,” he shares in an interview with YES! Magazine.

Acquiring the property meant taking baby steps as well. Coco wasn’t satisfied with the initial shape of the house that he ended up buying adjacent lots resulting to a 2,000sqm dream home. Completing the look meant choosing pieces that follow the aesthetic he had in mind, too. From the big pieces of furniture, to the accents and accessories, the actor made sure that each item complements his vision for the space. Just like other homeowners, Coco believes that building a home is a continuous process. Parang puzzle, binubuo-buo mo siya,” he relates.

The home’s façade gives visitors an idea of what to expect inside. Healthy trees frame the main door while lush plants add an instant tropical vibe.

Talk about making a grand entrance—the home’s main door is an artwork by National Artist for Visual Arts, Abdulmari Asia Imao. According to Coco, it was the first door the artist made. The main door features a fish, a request made by Coco since his beloved Lola was born under the Pisces zodiac sign.

Adding extra oomph to the home’s entrance is a metal artwork reminiscent of trees by glass and metal designer Miguel Aguas. Coco opted for a work of art instead of using wood cladding to spruce up the posts near the door.
