President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said on Thursday that China sees the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as central to peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
He made the remarks while visiting China to attend the opening ceremony of the FISU World University Games in Chengdu.

Chinese President Xi Jinping meanwhile said that China is willing to deepen its strategic cooperation with Indonesia in a meeting with Jokowi Thursday. Jokowi is visiting China to attend the opening ceremony of the FISU World University Games in Chengdu. China and Indonesia should ensure the high-standard completion of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway as it nears commercial operation, Xi told Jokowi.
