PHNOM PENH (XINHUA) – Cambodia earned a gross revenue of USD3.9 billion from the export of agricultural products in the first 11 months of 2023, said a Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) report yesterday.

The Southeast Asian country shipped 7.31 million tonnes of agricultural products to 75 countries and regions during the January-November period this year, a year-on-year drop of 4.6 per cent, the report said.

Key agricultural items for exports included rice, rubber, cassava, mangoes, fresh bananas, pepper, cashew nuts, longan, and corn, palm oil, among others.

Although great progress has been made in developing the Cambodia- Laos-Vietnam (CLV) Development Triangle Area, the need for further development in the zone remains high, a top Lao legislator has said.

The President of Laos’ National Assembly, Dr Xaysomphone Phomvihane, made the comment when speaking at a press conference held shortly after the first Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Parliamentary Summit wrapped up on Wednesday.

SINGAPORE (XINHUA) – The retail sales in Singapore fell 0.1 per cent in October on a year-on-year basis, reversing the 0.8 per cent growth in September, according to data released by the Department of Statistics yesterday.

The estimated total value of retail sales in October reached SGD4 billion, including 13.1 per cent from online retail sales, data showed.

Sales of recreational goods, furniture and household equipment, as well as department stores dropped in October, while food and alcohol sales recorded a year-on-year growth of 22 per cent, according to the data..
