SPORTS-SOCCER | Filipinas now in top 40 of FIFA rankings

After a year that saw its first appearance in the FIFA Women’s World Cup, the Philippine national women’s football team has entered the top 40 in the latest rankings of FIFA, the world’s governing body for football.

The team announced its new rank in a Facebook post on Friday, December 15.

With 1,571.64 points earned, the Filipinas jumped to 38th in the rankings, ahead of Chile and behind Southeast Asian neighbor Vietnam.

The national team rose by six places, after placing 44th in the previous release of the rankings.

The team in now ranked 7th in Asia and 3rd in the Southeast Asian region.
