MYANMAR: 12 injured in bomb blasts in Myanmar’s Thingyan water festival

XINHUA – Twelve people were injured in bomb blasts during the Thingyan water festival in central Myanmar’s Mandalay yesterday, the Information Team of Myanmar’s State Administration Council said.

The incident occurred at around 10.25am yesterday when two improvised explosive devices exploded at a motorcycle parking area near the Mandalay mayor’s pandal in Mandalay, the information team said.

The information team added that the attack was carried out by the People’s Defence Force, and the injured included five children.

Operations are underway to locate the perpetrators, the information team said.
