Cambodia’s Minister of Commerce, Cham Nimul, promoted potential investment opportunities in Cambodia at the 2024 JCI ASPAC (Junior Chamber International Asia and Pacific) Business Dialogue and Matching event held in Siem Reap provincial city on June 8.

The event was held under the topic “Business Opportunities in Cambodia,” with the co-chair of Sok Soken, Minister of Tourism of Cambodia, and many relevant stakeholders in attendance.

In her keynote remarks, Cham Nimul highlighted Cambodia’s business climate as vibrant and full of potential. Over the past two decades, Cambodia has achieved remarkable economic growth, averaging over 7% annually.

She said this success is built on a foundation of political stability, sound macroeconomic policies, and a proactive government that understands the value of public-private dialogue.

She said the Royal Government of Cambodia is actively working to develop domestic regulatory frameworks to facilitate competitive business operations and improve the business environment in Cambodia.

She encouraged investors to explore the vast potential that Cambodia offers.

Thousands were forced to flee their homes outside the town of Mongmit, northern Shan State fighting between the junta and the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) resumed there on Tuesday.

Local civilians said that the battle broke out at around 6pm near Man Hpwei and Lel Gyi villages, approximately four miles east of Mongmit Township’s urban centre, and that the two sides fought fiercely for around an hour.

“The people fled from the villages. Fearing that there would be another battle in the town, half the town’s population fled again. The military forces are still there, so people don’t dare stay in the town,” a local civilian said.

On January 18 of this year, the Kachin Independence Army ( KIA) and its allies launched attacks on junta forces in Mongmit Township, which is adjacent to Mabein, Manton, Mongngawt, and Namhsan townships in northern Shan State and adjacent to. . .

SINGAPORE – Two weeks ago, news of a mother who donated her 14-year-old son’s organs after he was declared brain-dead made the headlines. Her Secondary 2 son had collapsed during a run in school and died after three weeks in a coma.

His kidneys, liver, pancreas, corneas and skin saved at least four patients, said a spokesperson for the National Organ Transplant Unit (Notu) at the Ministry of Health (MOH).

Among the organ donors from 2019 to 2023 were four dead donors below the age of 21, and the organs they donated included the heart, liver, kidneys, pancreas, corneas and heart valves, the spokesperson said.

THAILAND: Thai PM says he has submitted explanation to charter court

Thai’s Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin. PHOTO: THE NATION

.

ANN/THE STAR – Thailand’s Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin said on Friday that he has submitted his explanation to the Constitutional Court regarding the appointment of Phichit Chuenban as the Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office in tomorrow’s deadline submission.

Srettha mentioned that he personally signed the document on Thursday after a thorough discussion and review with the prime minister’s adviser Wissanu Krea-ngam, and other relevant parties.

Srettha declined to comment when asked how confident he was about the explanations he had provided, as the matter was sub-judice.

However, he confirmed that the explanation had fully addressed the allegations, and the document could be submitted within tomorrow’s deadline.

The charter court has sought an explanation from Srettha after the judges voted 6-3 to accept a petition by 40 outgoing senators seeking the removal of the prime minister from his post for violation of ethics in the appointment of Phichit.

The petition sought a ruling from the court on the status of the PM due to the appointment of Phichit, who was deemed to lack the necessary qualifications.
