ASEAN HEADLINE: PM congratulates Cambodian Muslims on commemoration of Hari Raya Haji

Prime Minister Hun Manet has extended his congratulations and best wishes to all Cambodian Muslims, both inside and outside the country, as well as Muslims all over the world, on the celebration of Hari Raya Haji which falls on June 17.

“I and My wife would like to congratulate the 910 Cambodian Muslims who attended the Hajj, a religious obligation, in Saudi Arabia, among the more than 2 million people from all around the world,” he wrote on his social media networks this morning.

Dr. Hun Manet also expressed his gratitude to the Cambodian Muslims who have joined other Cambodians of different religious beliefs in maintaining peace and living in harmony under the leadership of the Royal Government of Cambodia.

“My wife and I wish all Cambodian Muslims, both inside and outside the country, success in their religious endeavours, and we wish all Muslims happiness and prosperity,” he concluded.

According to online sources, Hari Raya Haji, also known as Eid Al-Adha or the Great Day of Sacrifice, is celebrated on the 10th day of Zulhijjah and marks the end of the Hajj or Haji event.

Hajj is the pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia that every Muslim must make at least once in their lifetime if they are able; it is the most spiritual event that a Muslim experiences, observing rituals in the most sacred places in the Islamic world. AKP
