MANILA, Philippines — All threats thrown at President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. are considered “serious and a matter of national security,” the National Security Council (NSC) said on Sunday.
This came after Vice President Sara Duterte revealed on Saturday that she would have Marcos, first lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez assassinated if she were killed.
“All threats against the life of the President shall be validated and considered a matter of national security,” National Security Adviser Eduardo Año’s statement reads. “We shall be closely coordinating with law enforcement and intelligence agencies to investigate the nature of the threat, the possible perpetrators, and their motives.”
“We shall do our utmost in defense of our democratic institutions and processes which the President represents,” he added.
He also assured the public that the NSC will always uphold the Constitution, democratic institutions, and the chain of command.

The Presidential Communications Office announced on Saturday that Duterte’s remark constitutes an “active threat” to the life of the President.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin also referred the matter to the Presidential Security Command for “immediate proper action.”
“Any threat to the life of the President must always be taken seriously, more so that this threat has been publicly revealed in clear and certain terms,” the Palace said.

Si Lopez ay kasalukuyang nakakulong sa House of Representatives matapos akusahan ng pagsisinungaling sa ilalim ng panunumpa kaugnay ng paggamit ng confidential at intelligence funds.
Sa kabila nito, nananatili si Duterte sa House detention facility kasama si Lopez, na ayon kay Tulfo ay dahil sa kanilang umano’y relasyon.
“Si Sara at Zuleika ay matagal nang magkasintahan. Si Sara ay bisexual—puwedeng sa lalaki at babae. Matagal nang alam ng mga taga-Davao ang relasyon nina Sara at Zuleika,” ani Tulfo.
Bagama’t hindi pa kumpirmado ang mga akusasyon, lalong lumakas ang espekulasyon at intriga sa personal na buhay ni Duterte, na nagdagdag pa ng hamon sa kanyang posisyon bilang pangalawang pangulo.
Samantala, nagbigay ng opinyon si Presidential Legal Adviser Juan Ponce Enrile kaugnay ng lumalalang tensyon sa politika at mga panawagan para sa pagbabago sa liderato.
“We are a democracy. We just had recently elected a president and a vice president under our Constitution. Now, it seems, some people want a regime change. What do we really want? A Leninism? A Maoism? A Fascism? A Banana Republic? WHAT?” caption niya sa isang Facebook post.

Hinimok pa ni Enrile ang publiko na gamitin ang tamang proseso sa pagpapahayag ng kanilang sentimyento: “If we want a regime change, why don’t we wait for the national election in 2026? Or, are we that impatient that we want to have the political power now? Let us be very careful about the matter. So much is involved! So many people are going to get hurt! The whole nation is at stake!”
Ang sunud-sunod na kontrobersyang bumabalot kay Vice President Sara ay nagdudulot ng epekto hindi lamang sa kanyang personal na kredibilidad kundi pati na rin sa kabuuang imahe ng pamahalaan.
