ASEAN-EDU | Australia-ASEAN | PHNOM PENH: BRIDGE Programme 2024-2026 open for applications
The 2024-2026 Australia-ASEAN Building Relationships through Intercultural Dialogue and Growing Engagement (BRIDGE) is open and calling for schools in Southeast Asia to join the programme to foster meaningful connections through intercultural dialogues and collaboration.
With support from the Australian Government, the programme is implemented by Asialink Education at the University of Melbourne to strengthen people to people connection among the teachers and students from Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Timor-Leste.
The criteria for schools to apply to join the programme is that they have to demonstrate their commitment to global and regional engagement and partner with an Australian school and host a one-week teacher exchange visit at their campus, which is reciprocated by the partner school.
.
The programme activities involve 18 school partnership between Australian and ASEAN+ schools, eight virtual professional learning workshops for the nominated teachers, and four virtual sessions for the students.
By joining the programme, the teachers will gain school to school student connections in primary and secondary schools across Asia. It is also a chance for the teachers to visit and learn from their Australian counterparts. Participants are able to build relationships with peers, learn about social and cultural dynamics, and enhance connections across the region.
Schools participating in the programme, have to nominate one representative teacher and a group of eight students. The nominated teacher has to participate in eight virtual professional learning sessions, conduct a sharing session of what they have learnt with other teachers in their school.
.
Students have to participate in four virtual forums with students from the other participating schools. They also have to implement an initiative of a sharing session on what they learnt from the programme to other school students.
The programme commences in February next year with all participating teachers joining virtual learning sessions, visiting Australia for one week, thereafter, implementing their school partnership activities at their school. In mid-2026, the Australian teachers will visit their ASEAN school partners for one week
