According to a report from VN Express, Cambodia received approximately 6.7 million foreign tourists in 2024, surpassing the Philippines, which received approximately 5.4 million visitors during the same period.

Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism said Cambodia’s figures showed an increase of about 23 percent year-on-year and higher than pre-COVID-19 levels.

Ministry of Tourism officials attribute this achievement to effective tourism promotion policies, promotion of tourism products, and improvement of hospitality and services.

.

Thailand, Vietnam, China, Laos, and the United States are the leading sources of foreign tourists for Cambodia.

In contrast, the Philippines missed its target of attracting 7.7 million foreign visitors by 2024, but generated a record $13 billion in tourism revenue.

Before the COVID-19 crisis, the Philippines received approximately 8.2 million foreign visitors, more than Cambodia, which received only 6.6 million.

By 2025, Cambodia aims to attract 7 million international tourists, and to achieve this goal, the Cambodian government plans to simplify the procedure for applying for e-visas and reduce e-visa fees.
