Iran snatch draw in World Cup opener
After months of uncertainty surrounding their participation in the tournament following the war in the Middle East, all eyes were on the Iranians as they took on the New Zealanders in Group G at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium.

Cape Verde fans swell with pride after shock World Cup draw with Spain
In Boston, which along with its suburbs is home to the biggest Cape Verdean community in the United States, fans draped in the blue flag of the archipelago nation spoke of their pride after watching the game beamed in from Atlanta at a fan zone in the city centre.

C ape Verde supporters jumped for joy at the final whistle of the African country’s 0-0 draw against mighty Spain in their World Cup debut on Monday, the biggest shock result at football’s global showpiece event so far this year.

LOS ANGELES –The result left all four teams in Group G tied on one point, after Egypt and Belgium played out a 1-1 stalemate in Seattle.
The Egyptians impressed against the talented Belgians, perennial dark horses at the World Cup who had been tipped to top the group.
