Over 1,100 in Kuching for 16th Borneo Nash Hash
KUCHING: Hashing is a great sport that unites hashers from all over the world and promotes sports tourism.
This is according to Assistant Minister of Tourism Datuk Lee Kim Shin who also said hashing has become an international event and there are various events throughout the year for hashers all over the world to gather in one host country.
“This year, we have 206 hashers from Brunei, 107 from Indonesia, five from Japan, 10 from South Korea, three from Netherlands, six from China apart the 839 hashers from Malaysia,” he disclosed at the welcoming dinner for the 16th Borneo Nash Hash at SJK Chung Hua No. 3 Alumni Hall on Saturday.
“From hashing in Kuching, Malaysia, you get to experience a touch of our culture, food and heritage.
I hope you will all like it here and promote Kuching to your friends and relatives when your return to your respective countries.
Lee also cited several advantages of hashing which include being able to travel to other places, maintaining one’s fitness, promoting brotherhood among the hashers as well as getting to enjoy fresh air and tranquility along the treks.
He handed over a sponsorship of RM30,000 to the organising committee from Kota Padawan Hash for the event.
Borneo Nash Hash is an event organised bi-annually by Sabah, Brunei, Sarawak and Kalimantan, Indonesia.
