BANGKOK (ANN/THE NATION) – Thailand has strongly denied recent allegations regarding the use of chemical weapons, calling the claims unfounded and a deliberate attempt to discredit the nation on the international stage.
Nikorndej Balankura, Director-General of the Department of Information and spokesperson for Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said the government “categorically denies” the accusations, describing them as part of a recurring pattern of disinformation.
.
“Thailand remains fully committed to its obligations under the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC),” he said in a statement. “Our position has always been clear: we condemn the use of chemical weapons anywhere, by anyone, under any circumstances.”

He noted that since Thailand became a State Party to the CWC in 2003, it has consistently demonstrated its commitment through tangible actions and close cooperation with the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and other signatories.
The Foreign Ministry further emphasised that such false claims not only lack credibility but also undermine constructive dialogue and efforts to build trust within the international community.
