Shell Eco-marathon is a competition for students who are passionate about developing innovative mobility solutions. It challenges engineering, design, science and technology students to design, build and drive the world’s most energy-efficient vehicle.
This year, the Brunei teams will be participating in one category which is the Prototype Battery Electric category – a futuristic and highly aerodynamic vehicles. The teams first follow a very intensive safety and technical inspection before they are ready to race on the track. The race consists of six attempts, where in each attempt, the team must run their vehicle under 25 minutes and 9 laps equivalent to 10.07km in total. The race aim is to run the vehicle with the less amount of energy consumed per race.
During the whole weekend, Politeknik Brunei SEM team (Polybrusem) managed to make use all the six attempts. On the final day, polybrusem managed to set a new benchmark and also breaks their own record from 84km/kWh last year to 117km/kWh this year, with the ranking of 10th out of 26 participating battery electric prototype vehicle. This also makes Politeknik Brunei the top in Brunei team in terms of efficiency and ranking.
