POLITICS-DIPLOMACY: Vientiane – Laos, Cambodia vow to jointly resolve border dispute

Laos and Cambodia have agreed to work together to resolve the issue of their disputed border area as the two countries’ foreign ministers met for talks in Vientiane yesterday.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, Prak Sokhonn, was in Laos on a working visit, the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.

It is hoped that a solution can be reached so that the installation of border markers can be completed on the remaining 14 percent of the total 535 kilometres of the two countries’ shared border.During talks with his Lao counterpart Saleumxay Kommasith, the two ministers agreed that the Laos-Cambodia and Cambodia-Laos border committees should meet more often in an attempt to resolve the matter.
