COLUMNIST-OPINION: DU3O DENGUE WAR- PAO Chief serenades President Duterte

GEORGE VAIL KABRISTANTE

Persida Acosta has developed a strong sentimental ties with the entertainment press since her inception to office as Chief of the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO).

A celebrity on her own right she underscores the fact that through the years the movie press in particular has helped her translate into easy and perhaps entertaining reading for the so-called “madlang pipol” — the advocacy of her agency to share with the public the critical news affecting the lives of her clientele all over the nation who are mostly in the margins of society and largely victims of injustice.

Through her designated director of the PAO Forensic Laboratory Atty. Erwin Erfe, MD, Chief Acosta in an intimate gathering with the entertainment, announced that her agency has recommended the temporary suspension of the forensic activity of their Forensic Laboratory.

The said suspension is pending upon the decision of President Rodrigo Duterte whether to veto or not the provisions in the GAA of 2020 deemed highly inimical to the PAO Forensic Laboratory.

Chief Acosta is leaving the future of PAO’s said laboratory in the hands of President Duterte, but not to the members of the House and Senate who are protecting the interests of their principals and clients.

The cruel act of said vested interest group to “defund” said laboratory of PAO will grossly disable them from helping the poverty stricken and the victims of crime and injustice.

Thus PAO requests President Duterte to VETO the GAA for 2020 to the onerous provisions inserted by the minority led by Cong. Edcel Lagman.

This refers to the limitation on PAO use of MOOE which prohibits them from using it in its Forensic Laboratory Division plantilla personnel on the ground that it is contrary to law since it is against Anti-Torture Act (Rep. Act 9745] mandating PAO to investigate torture cases.

Also it is violative of Article 3 Section 1 of the 1987 Constitution re due process clause where PAO clients would be deprived of access to justice especially if the suspects are PNP officers and NBI law enforcers.

Chief Acosta also spoke volumes against conspirators Senators Drilon, Angara and Representative Garin, but it was more than heartening for her to declare that there is “no state-sponsored Extra-Judicial Killings” in the country adding that PAO has always been circumspect in all its investigation in the direction of the alleged EJK.

Moving on, the Pao Chief during the gathering bravely dished out at least three haunting songs as if it were all dedicated to President Duterte.

It beautifully sounded like metaphors to her critical issues at hand, namely “Rain,” “My Way and Man of La Mancha’s “The Impossible Dream.”

She capped all these by disclosing that she has a TV show in-progress for airing on cable TV by The Manila Times Publication where she writes a legal column prodigiously.

GUESS WHO? This lady film producer [LFP] is suffering from an acute case of illusion of grandeur. To offset her bankrupt film outfit, LFP is into another “raket” giving and literally selling awards to society’s vapid achievers whose touted achievements are as questionable as her integrity to hold an award event. Clue: Her thick provincial accent calls attention to herself whenever she starts to open her mouth.
