COVID-19 PANDEMIC: Philippines had 778 more infections push tally to 33,069

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday reported 778 additional cases of the COVID-19, driving the Philippines’ total caseload to 33,069.

Current data from DOH showed that of the recorded latest cases, 415 were considered as “fresh” while 363 are banded as “late.”
Fresh cases refer to those that were validated in the past three days while late cases refer to those that were recorded at least four days but have just been validated.

Meanwhile, DOH said it logged the recovery of 255 more patients increasing total recoveries to 8,910.
Further, DOH said it documented eight new fatalities with the toll now reaching 1,212.
The COVID-19 outbreak started in China’s Wuhan City in Hubei province in late 2019. The highly contagious respiratory illness is caused by a coronavirus named SARS-CoV-2.
For most people, the virus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia, and death.
