Ten Million Indonesians Have Received Covid-19 Vaccine

APRIL 12, 2021

Jakarta. More than 10 million people in Indonesia have received at least one shot of Covid-19 vaccine with more than half already fully vaccinated, government figures show.

The country has administered 15.5 million doses of the vaccine as of Monday, mostly supplied by China’s Sinovac Biotech which collaborates with state-owned pharmaceutical company Bio Farma for local production under license.

A total of 10.26 million citizens have received the vaccine and 5.3 million of them already got double doses, according to Health Ministry data.

The country reported +4 new case recorded, total at 58. No deaths.

New case of Covid-19 confirmed in Saravan

Another case of Covid-19 has been confirmed after a 32-year-old man tested positive on his return to Saravan province after entering Laos from Thailand.

According to a notice issued by the National Taskforce, a 32-year-old man from Nateuy Village Khongxedon District, Saravan province has been confirmed as the 54th case of Covid-19 in Laos.
The man had been working at a vegetable stall in Lat Phrao, Northeast of Bangkok, Thailand.

MALAYSIA

The country reported +2,331 new cases,  taking total 372,859, +5 new deaths, total is at 1,370 deaths.

Covid: Sarawak to vaccinate 929,435 individuals under phase two

KUCHING: A total of 929,435 individuals are being targeted to receive the vaccine under the second phase of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme in Sarawak beginning from Monday (April 19), said state Health director Dr Chin Zin Hing.

He said the second phase would kick off in the Sibu division on April 19; followed by Kuching, Serian, Sri Aman, Betong, Kapit, Mukah and Miri on April 23; Samarahan, Bintulu and Limbang on April 24; and Sarikei on April 30.

SINGAPORE – The use of the Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine has been paused in the United States, while countries like Denmark and Germany have halted or restricted the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine, with health authorities citing risks of blood clotting as a potential side effect of both vaccines.

This comes after a small number of patients with low levels of blood platelets who received the vaccines experienced cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT), a type of blood clotting in the brain.

The Straits Times speaks to Associate Professor Hsu Li Yang, vice-dean of global health at the National University of Singapore Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, to find out more.

Siam Bioscience confident of delivering vaccine jabs on time

Siam Bioscience Co, the local biotechnology firm contracted to manufacture the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine in Thailand, said it is confident that it will be able to deliver the vaccines on time once they have passed the required checks.

The company is in the process of sending samples of the vaccines it produced to several laboratories in Europe and the United States for quality inspection.

Once the samples are approved by the labs, they will be sent to AstraZeneca, which will then register the vaccine with the Thai Food and Drug Administration, so it can be mass-produced and used domestically, the company said.

HCM City gets 58,250 more doses of Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine

HCM CITY — HCM City has received an additional 58,250 doses of Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine out of the 811,200 doses from the COVAX Facility for the second phase of the vaccination drive, according to the city’s Centre for Diseases Control and Prevention.

People vaccinated in the second phase include health workers who were not vaccinated in the first phase, those who work in Tân Sơn Nhất Airport and have contact with passengers, and members of certain community groups.
