The AFF U23 Championship 2022: PHNOM PENH- Cambodia defeats Philippines 1-0 in Group A, chalk second victory

Midfielder Sin Sovann Makara scored the winning goal in the 81st minute in front of 17,780 spectators, despite the Philippine opponents putting a lot of pressure on Cambodia from the first half.

The AFF U23 Championship 2022, which originally supposed to have 11 countries participating in the ASEAN region, now has  only nine teams left when the U23 team from Myanmar asked to withdraw and the defending U23 champions from Indonesia were the first to withdraw due to the large number of members infected with Covid.

Cambodia is in Group A with Brunei, the Philippines and East Timor.
