ASEAN Football Federation (AFF): Việt Nam beat Philippines at AFF U16 champs

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam crushed the Philippines 6-1 in the fourth match of Group A at the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U-16 Championship on Saturday following their 4-2 loss to hosts hosts Indonesia last Thursday.

They controlled the game from the whistle and Văn Thông opened the scoring in the 20^th minute, before Quốc Hoàng and Văn Chung made it 3-0 at half time.

After the break, Việt Nam extended their lead with two goals from Hoàng and one from Ngọc Thanh. The Philippines found a consolation in the 50^th minute due to an error by Vietnamese goalie Văn Việt.

Việt Nam will next meet Myanmar today.

The AFF tournament will be a warm-up for Việt Nam to prepare for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-16 Championship to be held in Malaysia in September. — VNS
