JAKARTA, Indonesia-‘Large-Scale’ Social Restrictions Expanded to Jakarta’s Satellite Cities

.

Jakarta. Health Minister Agus Terwan Putranto has approved the request from five districts and cities in West Java to implement the so-called large-scale social restrictions to contain the novel coronavirus epidemic in Greater Jakarta, where around 70 percent of confirmed cases were found.

.

West Java is the second most severely hit by the Covid-19 disease, with 421 total confirmed cases and 40 fatalities as of Saturday, according to the health ministry data. The majority of the province’s cases are in the five districts and municipalities, due to their proximity to Jakarta, the country’s capital and the epicenter of the epidemic.

Nationally, around 70 percent of positive cases are Greater Jakarta area, Ridwan said.

“This indicates that we must have the same policy as Jakarta,” Ridwan said.
