Responding to rumours that the Royal Government plans to close Phnom Penh or close the country after the spread of Omicron, PM Hun Sen has declared that there is no need to for closure like in 2021 due to the high vaccination rate.

The PM made his remarks on the occasion of the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Boeung Choeung Ek wastewater treatment plant in Meanchey district, Phnom Penh, on the morning of February 22, 2022.

The PM advised people not to worry that the Royal Government wants to close the country again, which leads to panic buying of food or supplies, creating an abnormal increase in commodity prices.

The PM said, “I would like to confirm that those who whisper that there will be a closure of the city, the closure of the country, there is none.

The Prime Minister stated that the decision not to close the city or country is due to the high rate of vaccination.

The Prime Minister called on the people to continue to participate in the implementation of the three health rules and to get vaccinated with the basic dose and to encourage everyone and children of all ages to vaccinated

The recent cases of COVID-19 infection of the Omicron variant have been very widespread, with some days more than 500 cases.
