CAMBODIA :ASEAN to promote sustainable mineral investment and development

ASEAN Ministers of Mines have agreed to jointly promote the ASEAN region to become a sustainable mining investment destination and continue cooperation on improvement of mining development with governance, economy, society and environment.

The joint agreement was made in the 9th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Minerals (AMMin) and Its Associated Meetings under theme of Promoting ASEAN as Sustainable Mineral Investment Destination held here on Nov. 23 under the chairmanship of KeoRottanak, Minister of Mines and Energy of Cambodia.

It was preceded by the 23rd ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting on Minerals (ASOMM), the 16th ASOMM Plus Three Consultation and the 7th Meeting of the Board of Judges for the ASEAN Mineral Awards.

LAOS: Visit Laos Year 2024 opens with great fanfare

Visit Laos Year 2024 kicked off at the That Luang esplanade in Vientiane on Thursday with an official ceremony attended by a large number of dignitaries.
More than hundred people together with Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone; President of the Lao Front for National Development, Dr Sinlavong Khoutphaythoune; Deputy Prime Minister prof. Dr Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune; the Mayor of Vientiane Dr Atsaphangthong Siphandone; ministers and provincial governors attended the event.

Also present were foreign ambassadors, other representatives of foreign embassies to Laos, and members of international organisations.
Dr Sonexay​ Siphandone​ said “This is the Visit Laos Year since 1999 that Laos has named a year “Visit Laos Year”. This year’s programme takes the theme “A Paradise of Culture, Nature and History” with the logo of an elephant holding a khaen as a symbol of good luck and prosperity.”

THAILAND: Thailand plans 105 smart cities by 2027

 

BANGKOK (ANN/THE NATION) -– Thailand’s government has announced it will establish up to 105 smart cities in large municipal areas by 2027, Commerce Minister Phumtham Wechayachai said on Wednesday.
