REAL LIFE COMEDY: MANILA- Pinoy Comedian controversial lawyer Larry Gadon’s interesting use of face mask

Pinoy Comedian  Larry Gadon

Remember when the lawyer and defeated senatorial candidate Larry Gadon called a college student “stupid” in a public event? That name-calling is back to bite him in the ass after he was spotted over the weekend for his interesting use of a face mask — taping it on his face shield — which is nothing short of, oh what’s the word we’re looking for… not smart.

Gadon was seen sporting the mask-shield hybrid on Friday while distributing snacks and face masks in a Caloocan City hospital. As many health experts have said, wearing a face mask properly could lower the chances of getting infected by the coronavirus, especially when social distancing is practiced. Gadon however, told reporters yesterday that he doesn’t believe face masks could prevent COVID-19 and that he just wears it “for show” because the Philippine government has made it mandatory to use for anyone out in public.

“I don’t believe in mask outdoors, [but] face shield is okay. Masks may be good for small enclosed places like elevators or small conference rooms…In my case, the mask is only for a show because stores will not allow entry if you don’t have [a] mask,” he said.

“If [a face] mask is really effective, how come there are more than 100,000 people afflicted with COVID? And more than 2,000 dead victims?” Gadon asked.

Gee, where to start. Maybe it’s because the government only decided to ramp up contact tracing this month, among many other wrong calls?

Gadon, who is not a doctor, insisted that COVID-19 “is curable” and that it could easily be treated by traditional Chinese medicine.

“The government has overreacted to the COVID paranoia,” Gadon added.

As expected, Pinoys online poked fun at Gadon, with the likes @torres_jasper tweeting, “Atty. Larry Gadon, this is what being too smart does to you, you can’t even practice common sense.”

But it’s not just ordinary Filipinos who are criticizing the lawyer — even Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire slammed Gadon today in a press briefing, saying that his antics weren’t funny at all.

“First of all, this is no joking matter. Everybody knows that a lot of people are dying and getting sick, the economy is suffering, and the only way for us to fight and to overcome this situation is for all to cooperate,” Vergeire said.

Gadon was called a liar by a student of the University of San Carlos in Cebu City last year after he claimed that there was no corruption committed during the late President Ferdinand Marcos’ regime, despite the government saying in a 2017 report that as much as US$10 billion was amassed during the dictator’s term.

Instead of engaging in a logical debate with the student, the temperamental lawyer instead made the real mature move of calling the student “stupid” (“bobo”).
